Is There Life After Death?
As far as our physical bodies are concerned, it is apparent that death catches up with all of us at some stage. We certainly don’t seem to know when we are going to die, unless suicide or euthanasia are an option. It is generally recognized that when we die, our worldly posessions and physical bodies stay behind. That includes our homes, money in the bank, our heart, lungs, teeth, tatoos and silicon implants.
Two questions still remain. Does our soul, spirit or consciousness live on after our physical death OR, when our brain stops functioning, is that the end of life as we know it?
What About Heaven And Hell?
I wonder what your thoughts are about heaven and hell. Are they places we go to after we die or do they exist on earth? Or both? I am profoundly aware of the many people who refer to things as being hell or even angelic or heavenly, yet are they places or thoughts created in our mind?
Does God Exist?
Then we come to the question of God. Does God exist in the physical world, the spiritual world or both? Does God even exist at all or is God simply what each person believes God to be?
I always found it amusing, when I was dating an atheist, that in some very intense moments, he would call out “Jesus” or “Oh God”, so I figure the concept exists in some form even for people like this. There are also stories of non-believers who, when facing death, pray to God as a source of comfort. I have some friends who lost a son to a terminal illness, and even though they did not believe in God, they had him baptised and gave him a Christian funeral, “just in case”.
These are very deep questions to be asking, but the one that makes me feel very vulnerable indeed, is the question,
“How Did We Really Get To Be Here?”
